Brittnnee Cabrera is a California certified esthetician who is also the owner of her business,"Brittnnee's Beauty Bar" which started in December of 2018.
Once Cabrera graduated from school, she knew that she didn't want a boss anymore.
She wanted to be her own boss. She mentioned that a lot of the time when a person works in the beauty industry within a chain business or spa, that a business would want things to be done their way.
Cabrera said, "I'm always wanting to enhance my customer service and I don't want to be stuck in a nut and have to do the same service over and over. I like to customize everyone's service so that they don't feel like they're getting the same exact service as the other person."
Cabrera has been wanting to do this since high school. But as far as she can remember, her mom has told Cabrera that she has been obsessed with skin care and making sure she would wash her face since she was 10 years old. Every night, Cabrera was very much into skincare and her mom would always wonder how she got interested in skin care.
Also, she mentioned that she does have a history of the beauty industry in her family. Both of her great grandparents were hairdressers and her uncle is a hairdresser. Being around the beauty industry, she didn't choose to go the hair route because skin always interested her more, she was ready to learn, and she was excited to try new products.
There are a couple skin care places around the Cypress, CA area that give the same services that Cabrera does but what she brings to the table that is so unique is her wanting to know her clients on a personal level.
"The favorite part of my job aside from helping people improve their skin, is getting to know them. I want to know my clients on a personal level and I feel like that sets me apart definitely from the bigger businesses because a lot of the time those therapists have seen so many people and they're not even able to really get to know people and remember things about them. I have had clients where they come to me when they were pregnant and now they have babies" Cabrera stated.
Brittnnee's Beauty Bar owner truly loves to see every single one of her client's journey and just wants to get to know her client. She has a clientele that vary from women and men of many ages, although she strongly articulated that shes knows in order for a business to survive, she needs to make money but for Cabrera that's not what it's all about.
Cabrera's beauty bar is always offering specials for instance, in the month of August she offers a Teacher and School staff Appreciation which is 20% of all services while she offer an ongoing special like the Happy Hour where all services on Fridays between 3pm top 7pm will receive a 40% discount.
As much as people in the community support small businesses, at the end of the day these business owners have their bills to pay and their families to feed. But no matter what, Cabrera wants everybody to have the opportunity to see her.
The small business owner declared that she doesn't want money to be such a big factor where people are not coming in to take care of their skin. "I want to help the young girls out there. I was a college student myself and I couldn't afford to get a facial" she added.
Starting anything can be tough in the beginning more so a small business, and it was journey for Cabrera becoming an esthetician and starting her own business. For her, becoming an esthetician was her third or fourth career in life.
Initially, she went to college to be a school teacher and decided that wasn't going to be the route for her. She then worked in the public sector for a little while in a couple different positions but it was her last position in which gave her the push aside from her husband to leave that job to follow her aspirations of becoming an esthetician.
It was not only her husband that pushed her but also just being unhappy was the last push for her to go back to her roots in beauty and to do that. One day she enrolled into esthetician school, started a month after. She then graduated, got her licence with her state board exam and a a little less than a month after that, she started this business that we all know as "Brittnnee's Beauty Bar".
Like any other business, they have future plans. Cabrera honestly just enjoys the small business she has right now. She discussed that if she were to expand her business she would have to hire employees and those employees will never be exactly like her.
Cabrera added, " It is also what my clients are accustomed to. I could train people but it goes back to where she would have to force those employees to do the service a specific way. I want everyone to have the freedom to be the skin therapist he or she wants to be."
Her job description definitely matches what a boss babe is; not only is she a babe but, she gets to do things her own way, she gets to work when she wants, and she is able to welcome a baby next year and be a mom.
Women are so powerful especially nowadays we have boss babes and we have women to look up to in any industry. Being so modest she expressed that she is proud of herself. The boss babe beauty bar owner does think it is very important for women to feel empowered which she is all about.
She opened up and stated that it was because of a friend and mentor that she was able to start her business. That person helped her out every step of the way like where to get a business license and with her she was able to not spend so much money to hire someone instead that person helped Cabrera out.
As an empowered woman and business owner, her goal is to pay it forward with new estheticians or anyone wanting to start his or her own business. She said,"I want to give them all the knowledge that I learned from that friend of mine. I feel that us women have to stick together specifically in the beauty industry because to be brutally honest, it's (beauty industry) is not a beautiful place right now."
Although Cabrera is just one person, she really wants to chance to change the beauty industry where people do not have to follow the way the beauty industry has always been, she truly believes she can change that.
If there is any advice that Cabrera could give it would be: "Follow your heart and always do what you want to do. Don't worry about what everybody else thinks. Do what makes you happy.
When I went to Brittnnee's Beauty Bar I was able to have the 60 minute customized service and I felt relaxed and rejuvenated. Also, my skin was glowing that day, I loved it!
According to Cabrera the most favorite and popular service she offers is the customized facial. "I am able to completely customize the entire treatment for the client and customize every single product I use. If I do 6 facials a day, every 6 facial I service is completely different."
Guys, I love showing my love and support for small businesses such as Brittnnee's. If you are in need of some "me time" you definitely need to go to her beauty bar. Not only is she affordable but she is so personable.
